Oil Concentration Detector
FOCAS-1500c
Oil Concentration Detector

The FOCAS-1500c performs the function of continuously measuring and monitoring the concentration of oil contained in the bilge and other waste water produced on a ship. It is a highly reliable oil concentration detector which meets the requirements of IMO Resolution MEPC60(33).

Special Features
  • It measures only the oil concentration, unaffected by detergent and suspended solid matter in the water.
  • The production of air bubbles is inhibited to permit stabilized measurement.
  • Dual alarm system. An oil content alarm is given when the oil concentration exceeds 15 ppm and a set alarm is given in the event of input (sample water) or instrument failure.
  • "Check" button provides a simple operational test.

Measuring Principle

FOCAS-1500c emulsifies the oily water using ultrasonic waves and measures the change in turbidity using a photoelectric colorimetric method. In order to eliminate the adverse effects of detergent and suspended solid matter, the emulsification is performed twice. The change in turbidity caused by detergent and suspended solids during the first emulsification is compared to the change in turbidity caused by the second emulsification. Therefore, only the concentration of oil is measured, regardless of other factors. To reduce the production of air bubbles from ultrasonic vibrations a constant pressure is maintained to permit highly accurate and stabilized measurements of oil concentration at all times.

OMD-11
15 ppm Bilge Alarm Monitor

The OMD-11 Monitor is developed by DECKMA HAMBURG GmbH with the aim to improve the reliability and operation of 15 ppm Bilge Alarms. Based on more than 20 years experience in continuous Oil-in-Water Monitoring we have gained recognition and reputation in this field world-wide. In 1996 DECKMA HAMBURG GmbH launched an all new Oil-in-Water Monitor, the "OMD-7 Industrial Monitor" capable of distinguishing between the different characteristics of Oil particles, Solid particles and Water Turbidity on a continuous basis.
DECKMA HAMBURG GmbH now continues this Series with the "OMD-11", a new generation of Bilge Alarm Monitors including improvement on solids suppression.

Utilizing the latest "state of the art" in micro-processor design and measuring technique, the benefits of the OMD-11 are:
  • Reliable
  • Easy to operate
  • Improvement on Solids suppression
  • Variable parameters
  • Compact Model
  • 14 segment LED's
  • Antimagnetic
  • Lightweights (3,5 kg)
